Sunday Morning 12th January 2025

1 Samuel 28:15-25
In a lost and lonely state (due to his sinful choices) Saul has contacted dead Samuel. But Samuel has no comfort for him. The king has sown disobedience to God and now he will reap the consequences of that: tomorrow, he and his sons will die in battle. The thought overwhelms Saul’s mind and body. Sadly, this is the way for those who pursue the selfish life of sin. Yet, it need not be so if we repent of our sins and look to Jesus Christ to save us. Then a life can begin in which the past is forgiven and the future can be different: our future in this world and in the world to come. Through faith we can, unlike Saul, be ready to die.

Brief notes on this passage are also sent out in daily emails during the week after the sermon. An archive of these may be read on a separate website: press here to go to the first one from this passage or press here to read the introduction to the notes, which are entitled “Think of the King“.
