1 Samuel 29:1-11
David is living amongst his enemies and it’s tough. He’s had to convince them of his rejection of Israel and loyalty to them. But that now puts him in the dilemma of being called to fight against his own. How can he prevent that from ending badly? It all seems hopeless until, in God’s providence, the Philistine leaders hand him a way out. However, the whole scene is ugly and shows us the mess our world is in. Lies, tricks, distrust and manipulation are found in so many of our relationships. Where can we find one true person to be relied upon? Answer: Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who came to bring truth into this world of sin (John 1:14).
