Sunday Morning 2nd February 2025

1 Samuel 30:1-12
David has lived with tension and stress, which was then heightened by a call to war against his own people! The whole situation was exhausting and being freed from the dilemma must have felt refreshing. But now things get so much worse, with everything apparently taken from him such that David could collapse in utter weakness. But he doesn’t. He finds strength in the only place he can: from God. When we are exhausted by the pressures of this life, we must not turn to ourselves or the world for an answer, but to the Lord. He understands just what we’re facing and is able to help as no-one else can.

Brief notes on this passage are also sent out in daily emails during the week after the sermon. An archive of these may be read on a separate website: press here to go to the first one from this passage or press here to read the introduction to the notes, which are entitled “Think of the King“.
