1 Samuel 30:13-31
David and his men had everything stolen from them, including their families. God told David to go rescue them. But God didn’t say which direction to go nor how it will be achieved. However, as David steps out in obedience, so God gives further clarity and, when it comes, the victory is remarkable: everything is brought safely home; justice is done. God shows his generous mercy in this and David echoes that in how he then handles his men. Some turn harshly towards others who dropped out of the mission due to exhaustion. But David is generous to all and more besides. This is the nature of a truly godly king. In Jesus we find to perfection.
