Due to his disobedience of God, Saul comes to a tragic end, taking his family and his kingdom down with him.
David and his men had everything stolen from them, including their families. God told David to go rescue them. But God didn’t say which direction to go nor how it will be achieved.
David has lived with tension and stress, which was then heightened by a call to war against his own people! The whole situation was exhausting…
David is living amongst his enemies and it’s tough. He’s had to convince them of his rejection of Israel and loyalty to them.
In a lost and lonely state (due to his sinful choices) Saul has contacted dead Samuel. But Samuel has no comfort for him.
Due to his sin, Saul is all alone and frightened of his enemies. David will not help him; God will not help him; he’s in a living death.
