Hebrews 1:3-9
Amongst other exciting themes in the first century world of Jerusalem, angels are to be found. The thought of other-worldly beings does fascinate many people, possibly because they seem the more accessible way to access heaven, when God seems far off and holy. But though an interesting topic, angels should not become a distraction from the Lord Himself. Yet to the first hearers of the book of Hebrews, they had become that. So the writer starts by putting angels in their proper place, and Christ upon the throne of heaven.
