Hebrews 3:7-12
Moses served Israel well, leading them through the desert. Yet he also failed and never himself entered the promised land. Nor did most of the adults of that ancient generation whom the Lord released from slavery in Egypt. Why? Because they failed to keep faith in the Lord when the journey got tough and the destination seemed too remote. Hebrews looks back at that group, through the lens of Psalm 95, to warn Christians not to lose faith in Jesus for salvation on the day of God’s judgement. At times that day can seem more like a story than a reality. But it’s coming and only Jesus can lead us safely through it to the eternal life beyond.
