Hebrews 6:3-19
Abraham started life not knowing God. But in his later years, God called this elderly, childless man to move to Canaan where he would be blessed with family and home. Yet having given Abraham a son – Isaac – God then demanded him back via sacrifice, which made no sense. But Abraham trusted that God could keep Isaac’s soul safe and restore him to life, and God’s delight in seeing that faith led him to swear an oath that he would give Abraham all He had promised: an oath He kept through Jesus. Christians are to look back on how God once spoke, and how he fulfilled His words, to encourage us to press on with Christ to gain God’s blessings. Nothing can stop Him granting these to us, not even death! That gives security and peace to our souls.
