Hebrews 8:6-13
The Old Testament tells the story of ancient Israel and her covenant with the Lord. The agreement offered them wonderful blessings, but they had to be obedient to God’s laws to receive them. Right through their history, they failed to do this because, like us all, they had sinful hearts. So God, through the prophet Jeremiah, promised a new covenant where He would save people from this problem inside us. Jesus has made that new covenant come to life through his salvation, which started in Israel but now has gone out to all the world. We can’t change ourselves so we please the Lord. But He can change us. All with faith in Christ are transformed to become what God wants us to be. God has covenanted to make this happen.
