Hebrews 9:9-14
Ancient Israel’s tabernacle was a tent for the worship of God. Its structure was like a flattened version of Mount Sinai where God turned them into a nation and gave them a covenant. But that meant it not only represented how God would travel with them, but that because He is holy, they must not come too near. So even after offering acceptable worship, the people never found their consciences were at ease: they sensed a barrier between themselves and God. Christ, however, changed that by opening a door into heaven for human beings. He is able to take unholy, sinful people to God in heaven. How? Through his perfect sacrifice which makes us clean, thus giving peace to our consciences and enabling us to serve God fully. Heaven is now open to all who have faith in the Lord.
