Although he doesn’t mention it directly, what happened on the cross to the Lord Jesus feeds into the ideas which James presents in his letter. How can Christians know that it not foolish to consider it pure joy to suffer? The cross proves it. How can Christians know that future glory awaits them after trials? The cross proves it. how can Christians know that humble love to the poor is a worthy life? The cross proves it. Understanding what happened at the cross is vital to Christian hope and living.
