Sunday Morning 1st June 2025
James is correcting the worldly thinking which is influencing his distant Christian friends. They are living in Jewish communities where too much respect is paid to the rich and the poor are too easily dismissed. These Christians are falling into the same attitude. But they must not, for it goes against all the Christ said and did! His royal law which governs His kingdom is to love without distinction. As people liberated by God’s mercy, Christians must be rich in mercy and good deeds to others. And no excuses must be offered for not doing so. If we practise a harsh attitude then we invite God on judgement day not to be merciful to us.
