James 3:1-6
Jesus warned his followers that those who want to help others to see their sins and flaws, need to make sure they do so with the right spirit. James makes a similar point in these verses. Some of those hearing him are lecturing others on how they live without doing some needed self-assessment first. This means their words are causing damage like a match touching dry wood. Words are powerful, making our tongues into dangerous weapons unless they are steered properly. We need to work out what our words say about us, before deploying them on others, to ensure we walk in godly ways.
