James 4:13-17
James has had to rebuke his friends for going to war with one another. But what’s produced such behaviour? Their failure to live by faith in the Lord through hard times. Instead, they have gone back to what their feelings and desires tell them, which has led them astray into sin. One striking example of this is their dependence upon the Roman Empire and its trade. Around them are many opportunities for wealth-building and some are pursuing in the hope it will solve all their problems. But they are fools to think that way. Human life is fragile: we are a mist soon gone. Solid strength is only found with the Lord. We must build life on Him.
