James 5:1-6
In his letter, James has dealt mostly with Christians. But now he turns to address corrupt wealthy people. They have plenty of money and goods, and think themselves so secure. But their riches have come by sinful means, as they have exploited the poor and condemned the righteous. So God’s judgement is on its way to them, as His armies bring about their ruin. In the first century, this happened to Judea when the Romans destroyed and pillaged Jerusalem. But when the Lord returns, it will be heavenly armies that bring punishment to sinners. To survive that day, we need treasure in heaven which only Christ can provide. Put your faith in him.
