James 5:7-12
James is drawing to a close. He has called Christians to desist from living life without faith: they trusted Jesus to save them; they must trust him still in the midst of trials. But this faith must be active: seen in their conduct. So they must rein in bad behaviour, especially how they are using their mouths. No more grumbling at others! Rather, let them remember the Lord is coming soon, and so patiently persevere in his good ways. Believers in the Old Testament, like the prophets and Job, showed such patience; so must Christians. Our Lord is reliable. All will be well. Trust him. And be like him, too: others should find us trustworthy and reliable.
