Jeremiah 2:9-22
The Lord has a charge to bring against Judah for breaking her covenant with Him, expressing the charge in varied language to show how horrible Judah’s behaviour has been. She has pursued freedom from her Lord, but it has led her into multi-generational slavery. God describes her behaviour as: drinking foul water; pursuing mad alliances; shaking off His good yoke; sleeping around promiscuously. He says this will end badly. Praise God, though, that the story didn’t stop there! Jesus later came to save those lost in such sin and give a new path to life. He still offers the same to all who put their faith in him. He gives true freedom.
