Jeremiah 4:15-26

Judah has been warned of the coming invasion which will be so destructive to her land. Judah has heard about the offer of forgiveness which the Lord has made to Israel in the north. But will the warning and offer do anything to change Judah’s behaviour? Sadly not. Stubborn pride will leave her the same, with the result of devastation across the land, and especially in Jerusalem. Jeremiah prophetically describes this so vividly that he reacts to what he sees coming with fear and trembling. But the Lord points out that even then the nation will remain stubborn and so ruin must come, a ruin so comprehensive it will be like going back to the start of creation in Genesis 1. But why does the Lord use such extreme language for this event?
