Jeremiah 4:27-5:9
Judah’s sins are leading to her collapse. When invasion comes, the small towns will be left empty. But can Jerusalem survive? Will her “friends” in other lands come to her rescue? Answer: no! They don’t care, and God is intent on disciplining her. Sure, if one man could be found who would act justly and truthfully, the situation could be turned around, but Jerusalem is full of lies. No lessons have been learned from the past, her religion is a sham, and both people are leaders are caught up in it. Sadly, such behaviour is repeated all across this world as places rise and then fall into the chaos of sin. But one man offers a better kingdom, built on divine power and divine truth: Jesus. In him there is hope of real rescue.
