Jeremiah 5:10-24
Judah has been speaking false words about God. That’s happened through their idol worship, but it’s also seen in their denial of God’s punishing of sin. To them the words of true prophets like Jeremiah are just wind blowing. Not to the Lord, however, who will use the words like a spark to ignite a fire of judgement. An army is coming and a different language will fill Jerusalem’s streets: when God causes a babble of language, you know he’s punishing you. Judah may deny the reality of God’s mighty power, but it will be seen when they reap from him the consequences of their behaviour. Let us learn from the truth of the Lord who can save us, not listen to the lies of the world and the devil.
