Jeremiah 6:9-22
Jerusalem is a religious city in Jeremiah’s day. People are burning incense, offering sacrifices, listening to prophets and going to their priests. Yet, the whole system has been corrupted. Envy and greed mark many lives, they will not listen to Jeremiah’s warnings about this, and they ignore the ways of the Lord. As a result judgement is coming, but the people will not listen to Jeremiah’s warning of this. Other nations will see their folly as they stumble as people, tripped up by the Lord they ignore. There is only one true way to be at peace with God and that is through His Son Jesus. It is wicked to think we can make up our own ways and expect God to be pleased.
