Jeremiah 8:1-15
God is speaking to Judah through Jeremiah, but Judah isn’t listening. He has spoken of how their corpses will be exposed due to the shame of the child sacrifices they’ve been offering. They now turn that into an opportunity to worship the stars. He asks why they don’t listen. They boast of having his instructions and keeping them, even though they don’t. Their leaders say “peace”, even though there is no peace. Well now the people will see the truth. But will they learn? No, they’ll carry on hiding behind their version of reality. We need to listen to what God actually says, not what we imagine he’s saying. Then we can truly return to him through Christ the Saviour.
