Mark 1:40-2:12
As Jesus works through the synagogues of Galilee, he meets an ‘unclean’ man. The man has a skin disease which is not only unpleasant but also blocks him out from Israel’s worship. With a single touch, Jesus transforms the man. Such miracles draw the crowds, so Jesus next finds himself speaking to a packed audience in a house. But when a paralysed man is lowered through the ceiling, Jesus pronounces his sins forgiven. The action offends the religious lawyers present since Jesus is taking God’s place! However Jesus proves his right to do this by healing the man’s legs. He truly is the saviour who can bring us through all barriers, back to God.
