Mark 6:30-36
The apostles bring back a report to Jesus on the state of Israel. Now they need some quiet to rest and talk. But when Jesus takes them away from the populated centres, a huge crowds runs to join them. In that Jesus sees how troubled Israel has become, with leaders who have let her down, and people like wandering sheep. So as Moses did in the wilderness, Jesus teaches them the word of God. However, it’s not easy to get past limitations and assumptions, as even his twelve disciples show when they wonder out loud how such a big group are going to be fed.
