Mark 6:47-57
Jesus has dismissed any thought of an army of men, sending his twelve disciples away in their boat whilst he goes alone to pray privately. In doing so he decides it is time to make known, to his team, more about who he truly is. So as the disciples struggle to cross the lake due to the opposing wind, Jesus walks across the water as only God can do. Building on events in the wilderness, this theophany should sharpen the men’s appreciation of him. But their ability to take in reality is limited. Jesus, however, is patient, willing to continue to deal humbly with others until the Father fully unveils his glory.
