Ancient Israel’s tabernacle was a tent for the worship of God. Its structure was like a flattened version of Mount Sinai where God turned them into a nation and gave them a covenant.

Jeremiah once more describes in vivid detail the level of trouble heading towards Judah. He responds to his prophecy with a cry of anguish: why have the people of Judah listened to the voices in their own heads instead of to the voice of the Lord?

God set up a tent in the midst of the Israelite camp when they were on the move from Egypt to Canaan. It declared his willingness to be with His people.

The Old Testament tells the story of ancient Israel and her covenant with the Lord. The agreement offered them wonderful blessings, but they had to be obedient to God’s laws to receive them.
